The Trashwomen Take Burger Boogaloo

Alex KhatchadourianJune 25, 2016
What started off as a tribute to 1960s surf-garage rock group The Trashmen, Tina “Boom Boom” Lucchesi (drums), Elka “Kitten Kaboodle” Zolot (guitar), and Danielle “Lead Pedal” Pimm  (bass) quickly gained a following in the Bay Area garage rock scene, as the Trashwomen.
The thrashing trio alternated between instrumental surf numbers and punky garage rock songs with raunchy lyrics, raw energy, and a unique style that influenced hundreds of aspiring musicians and future generations.

What does it feel like to play a festival so close to home and with bands who are also primarily based in the area?

It’s awesome … I’m born and bred in the Bay! I love that this fest happens here and Nutty Marcos makes it happen.

Who is the brains behind the matching outfits?

We all figure out some sort of theme together. We are old now, haha, so maybe a lil’ toned down from our old days of yor!!

Do The Trashwomen have any pre-show rituals?

We circle chant and call in the rock n’ roll goddesses to give us power over man!!

Are you typically the only all-female band on the show bill?

No, not these days!

Describe The Trashwomen in one word.

DIVAS

Build your own burger.

I’m Classic … Burger well done, bacon, cheddar, avocado, mayo, ketchup, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and red onions … Toasted bun a must…. Yummmmm.
